Swiss commercial register developments in September 2024 - increase in new companies

New entries
August was characterized by a summer lull, but towards the end of the month September shows increasing numbers again. A total of 3,951 new registrations were registered, which corresponds to an increase of 11% compared to the previous month. However, compared to July 2024, September recorded a 13% decline. However, if you compare the figures with the previous year, the development is positive, with an increase of 3.3%

Deletions
In September the number of deletions increased, with a total of 2,357 companies being removed from the commercial register. This represents an increase of 6% compared to August 2024 and also 6% compared to the previous year. Looking at the start of the quarter, there was a significant decline in company deletions by 33% in July.

Mutations
Similar to new entries and deletions, we recorded an increase in mutations in September 2024 compared to the previous month, but a decrease compared to the beginning of the quarter. A total of 16,550 mutations were reported in September, an increase of 12% compared to August, but a decrease of 17% compared to July.

The number of company liquidations has increased by 14%; a total of 1,760 companies have ended their business activities and decided to dissolve.

Principality of Liechtenstein
In September 2024, Liechtenstein also recorded an increase in new registrations: with 46 newly registered companies, this corresponds to an increase of 2% compared to the previous month. At the same time, the number of deletions increased, with a total of 75 companies being deleted from the commercial register in August. In contrast, the number of mutations fell significantly, with only 1,007 changes reported, an impressive 56% decrease compared to the previous month. The data from the Principality of Liechtenstein was evaluated until September 27, 2024.
